Obsidian armor isn't anything special. Anet only made so many armor sets, and after almost three years of gameplay, I just got it. I guess I just like to wear this armor set in comparison to my other armors. With that said, I have experienced comments both ways. There are people who will give me few good words on the road, but there are other people who will insult me for wearing my Obsidian armor. I still do not understand why in the world would someone I don't even know insult and assume me of having a big ego for just having this armor set; these insults don't really affect me, but I have to say it is rather annoying. I guess there are people who are very sensitive to ingame objects that can be gained through lots of efforts, but just because that I have this armor, it won't reduce their drops or what not. Anyone has an idea to the reason behind this behavior?

It's not worth it due to the fact that it's ugly.
The only FoW armor I'd get is the ritualist because it actually looks better than all the other ritualist armors.
I have no clue why so many warriors wear FoW armor when there are so many other armor sets that look wayyy better.

to maintain your interest in anything in life you need goals. same case with GW. if getting Obsidian armor will maintain your interest and make the game fun for you by all means make it a goal. Enjoy the process and the end result. that is what is most important.

my opinion is that it isn't worth it and the excess amount of money involved to obtain it, because i personally think there are plenty of elite armor that looks just as good and in reality all max armor is the same and it just comes down to your personal tastes, but hey if you like it and you want it set a goal save money for it or if your filthy rich then just go get it.

This is what I feel most people attempt to do when buying armor that especially ask about if it's worth it. Trying to be leet and impress people that you "had" money and you could "afford" such garbage to wear. lol Personally I don't think any of the armor is worth 15k + resources. The real value in the game is getting all types of weapons and shields and focus items to be able to handle most any situation that pops up. Like I now have shields with +10 vs slashing, +10 vs piercing, and +10 vs blunt and +10 vs fire (most common attack defense). I have those setup in my 4 weapons slots and can quickly change to the one that provides the best defense when I see I'm coming up against that offense. What armor LOOKS like doesn't ever do many any good as opposed to what is equiped within that armor. To me the runes and insignias are more important than what the armor LOOKS like.
So, in short, NO! Obsidian armor is not worth it until you have every type of weapon setup and shield setup and focus items setup to counter every other type in the game. <grin>

everyone says its not worth it and should spend on something else... i think ur retarded for thinking like that, ur opinion and u should keep it to urself.
TBH there is nothing better to spend on then on armor, which actually stands out the most
get it if u like it, and yeh and you get a occasional "nice fow" comment or sometimes the jealous ones " EBAY!!"

The obsidian armor doesn't cost that much anymore. I know it's still more than 500k to buy but if you look how high the ecto's/shards you need for it now, and compare it to the prices from 1.5-2years ago ( ecto's 10k each + shards 4K each), the price dropped enormously.
I bought my armor just because it looked nice.

I am currently saving for obsidi armour, mainly because i aim to collect all elite armours for my ele. (not to be l33t, just for my own enjoyment and achivement)
I shall say this for every armour out there, if you like how it looks then get it.
If you want it as a status symbol....then ok get it if you must but dont expect everyone to love you lol.

Everyone says that but hasn't the cost of greens/golds to sell and the amount of loot dropped from solo farming also decreased at a much greater rate than the ecto/shard prices. Ecto/shard prices are now halved, whereas solo farming drops have decreased by 7/8's (from full party worth to single persons scaled amount) for all but gold, green and rare trade (and if you farmed ecto for the armour, surely thats the exact same as farming ecto now).
